A project built around passion
For the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of designing Rhythm Snowsports’ annual magazine, bringing together two of my biggest creative loves: snowboarding and editorial design. Each year, I’m given complete creative freedom to shape the look, feel and flow of the magazine, creating an opportunity to experiment, push the layout and build something that feels true to the Rhythm brand and snowboarding culture.
152 pages of snow
This year’s edition grew to an impressive 152 pages, packed with stories, athletes, brands, products and adventures from across the snowboarding world. The magazine brings together an incredibly diverse mix of content, from features with Burton, Armada, Smith, XTM, Nidecker, Salomon, Endeavor Snowboards, Völkl, Rossignol, K2, Thredbo, Nitro, Jones, Ride and The North Face, through to featured athletes and stories from Dr Geoff Wilson and his Arctic expeditions and more.
A cover to remember
One of the highlights of this year’s issue was being honoured with the opportunity to create Valentino Guseli’s very first Rhythm magazine cover. As an Olympic snowboarder and Crystal Globe winner, Valentino is one of Australia’s standout snowboarding athletes, making the cover a particularly special project.
Combing my love of the mountains with design
After five years, the Rhythm magazine remains one of my favourite projects to work on. Having the freedom to combine bold editorial design, photography, typography and storytelling with my genuine love of the mountains makes every issue feel different. It’s a project that lets me design with complete creative freedom while being immersed in a world I’ve loved for years.
